Train won't unload dirt

This train is stuck with dirt on it. It stops at the wrong spot and won't move to empty the dirt. Why?

The train with the issue is the one where the middle wagon is full of dirt. I have tried different schedule options and tried manually moving it, sending it to the depot, and none of that has helped. It just enters the station and stops at the wrong spot, even when the other 2 wagons are empty. See the image for where it stops, but that's also where it is when you load the save.

As I was about to post this, I was able to fix it by manually moving it when it was in the station, but it was frustrating and I don't think it's intended, so I'm still posting it with the save. Is this a bug?

Are the silos properly set to unload/load? Especially the dirt one being set to unload.
Which direction is the train approaching from? That likely matters for the station.
You say the train with the issue is the one with the dirt in the middle wagon, do you have other trains that arrive at this station with dirt elsewhere and work properly? What is the state of the above two questions for the trains that work?

Yes, it worked for a while and there are other trains dropping off dirt at the station, just this one car won't go into the correct position to unload

That's what made me do it as a bug report. The train works if you manually move it a little and then pause it then unpause it, but it got itself into this situation somehow and so it's completely possible it will happen again, and it seems I have to manually fix it

But feel free to look at the save and see if you can do an automated fix for it?

sure, I can take a look. I haven't quite made it to trains personally yet

Okay, so, I tried several things, the only way I can get that particular train to work (besides the obvious set the bin next to the car as dirt) is if the first (from the station component) unload is set to dirt, but I suspect in that case it would fail to unload rock/gravel if the second car held that (I didn't specifically test to verify).

Its just a guess, but I think this is an issue because a car in the series before the one you want to empty is already empty, so somehow it thinks that its unloading even though there is "0" load. I wanted to test with just two cars where the first has the load, but I didn't find an easy way to do that so I didn't try it.

I think its actually because the first car (relative to the station) is empty

yep, not saying it isn't, was just presenting my more detailed findings

I just confirmed the theory with your steam locomotive from that save. I changed its route so that it's empty car is forward and set the "dirt" bin to coal. It only unloads the one that is at that bin and leaves the middle one full.

ah, yeah, didn't think of that. An account is free, but if you don't wanna make it that's different. I can post it, I just didn't want to override you. Let me know if you are okay with me posting it.

We have a fix for this in progress, but might not make it to next patch.
