Stackers Just Bury Large Ore Sorting Plant

Works as intended Logistics

1.Build Large Ore Sorter
2.Build Stacker over ore sorter's input.
3.Stacker destroys sorter instead of the material being sorted.

Doesn't work like that, trucks dump products directly into the plant

omegacub3d [discord] · 1 year ago

I know trucks do that. I wanted to see if I could use the stacker to also dump stuff from trains into it as a workaround for them not being able to carry mixed stuff thats been dug up. I wanted to see if I could just offload whatever craps in the loose train cars all onto one belt and let the sorter deal with it rather than mess around with a bunch of belt splitters.

Same thing with loose storages, the game lets you for some reason, but you cant actually input it that way.

omegacub3d [discord] · 1 year ago

Which is kinda inconsistent in my opinion because trains can carry recyclables which are also unsorted loose stuff

smjjames [discord] · 1 year ago

Theres a difference between that and just dumping stuff on a building.

omegacub3d [discord] · 1 year ago

and while im on that subject every scrap yard ive ever been to uses stackers to just dump the recyclables straight onto the ground :p

a form of which which already exists in the game as recyclables, which makes the inconsistent treatment confusing

deagato [discord] · 1 year ago

Yes, what i'm saying is that everything picked up from the ground should be picked up as "unsorted loose" to allow what you want

omegacub3d [discord] · 1 year ago

it already is treated that way. i can use multiple stackers to create a commingled mess of every loose item that can be dumped on the ground and has to be fed back through a sorter

Yea well irl =/= ingame.

The game doesbt recogbize stackers as a valud input for those buildings.

No, you are dumping discrete items on the ground (iron, copper, rock etc) then the exacavators picks up the same items. They are not handled like recyclables

You need to use this. This is the answer to what you are trying to do

Alternatively, he could stack the pile and use a mining zone and maybe a logistics zone and let the excavators have at it.

overdrive68 [discord] · 1 year ago

100% but if it is unloaded from trains, it is unloaded via u-shaped transports. Therefore this allows the sorting

omegacub3d [discord] · 1 year ago

And then you end up with this nonsense.

There's no point in having a giant bulk sorter that can sort everything if the bulks you might want to transport to it in bulk have to be presorted first, but that's beside the point. the stacker should be able to feed into that bigass dump pit it has, but the game logic currently doesn't allow that

Maybe but either way the stacker being able to dump on the building is unintended behavior and/or so is it not being able to feed into the dump pit if you want

I imagine its an oversight because nobody's tried to do it before
