Deleting resources permanently from shipdock

You're able to watch a meteor directly at the ship dock and delete everything in it including radioactive materials and permanently delete them

A slow moving meteor hitting the ground destroying everything would cause most of the materials either to break up into small pieces or be vaporize into the air most likely radiation liquid but it's most likely going to be would vaporize into the air and stay very radioactive in the fallout would be immense so death by radiation makes perfect sense to my point of view

I was not expecting that to be a thing I was under the impression that that was never an issue and it would just dump all the material on the ground including the nuclear waste causing mass problems but I didn't know it could permanently delete it stuff

You used to do it by mining under the shipyard (or something to get it to collapse), but I think they fixed that?

But I do question what should happen in this case. Ending the game with 'radiation killed everyone' doesn't sound fun, but I guess you can just load. Maybe making the shipyard indestructible is the least bad option, since I imagine it would be hard to prevent targeting it. Or maybe not 🤷‍♂️

If you can prevent targeting anywhere near a shipyard, that's probably the way to go

I stand by my "this is a problem but not really" stance

The amount of effort that would have to go into doing this and the suck that it would take while doing it (filling a ship yard with radioactives would take time and emit radiation which is still bad), the aftermath would still suck (gotta re build the shipyard often something that isnt really easily done because how much free coast do you have? also you just meteor'd where there's probably buildings) for the payoff of deleting waste?

okay XD

There's also the radiation that never goes away

Or maybe that was a different thing/bug

If you pass the game and then delete all the material from a storage you can instantly transmit it to the shipyard and then at the same time you can launch a meteor right at it

Using unity to permanently remove radioactive materials sounds like a fair trade to me for an exploit

deagato [discord] · 1 year ago

Who is the rad material a problem? you can process it and get useful stuff

sniperteamtango [discord] · 1 year ago

asking this genuinely as a mindset question

what is the lowest amount of material that you would intentionally meteor to delete it?

smjjames [discord] · 1 year ago

‘Im dying from radiation’ levels probably?

Does nothing to solve the actual problem though

sniperteamtango [discord] · 1 year ago

Im just seeking to understand this as an exploit

like to me, the contents of a single waste storage isnt worth all this work. I however make room for the idea people might not agree with that.

I wouldn't be suprised if you can:

  • Quick empty sorage;
  • Order the deconstruction of the storage;
  • Pause the deconstruction;
  • Repeat for all storages you want to void;
  • Perform the "exploit";
  • Disable the deconstruction of the storage buildings,
    that you've ordered to as a part of this operation.

Right but so it takes what 30. Something unity a storage to empty?

We are talking about a non-trivial amount of micro and a non-trivial amount of resources use

I will stipulate that I agree that this is bad on a puritan level

I just don't know that this is like as bad as like using unity to build groundwater pumps

Maybe the solution is don't let people unity empty nuclear waste storage?

It's getting late for me so I'm losing the ability to process all the nuance details for this, my take is intended to be I don't know that this is necessarily a bad thing that this works the way it does, because doing this still has bad effects

I don't know that it's necessarily net good or net bad. I imagine it's not net bad. But it's definitely not replacing a problem with no problems. It's replacing a problem with different problems that are seemingly not as much of a problem for the cost of stuff

Though from the screenshot, it looks a bit borked in that theres no debris, or is that normal? Every meteor screenshot ive seen have had the asteroid (well, meteoroid) surrounded by land and some debris.
