Bug, maybe. Bucket wheel triggers a collapse and destroys its own tracks.

I am digging into a rather steep mountain and digging triggered a collapse which fell onto the tracks it builds causing tracks to be destroyed and the excavator backs up and can no longer dig due to ground out of reach. Any chance you can either make the tracks non destructible or have some algorithm for the excavator to level off that area and try again automatically? Notice this one is about to have issues but it may correct it by it self. I have had others where the track gets buried and destroyed .

Hi the problem is you started so near to the mountain that there already is no track, i already programmed it so the Excavtaror backs of if he can (if there is enough tracks) not sure how to resolve your issue here

Well, I am not sure either. I will start them further back next time and see how that works. They do back up if they have room. I guess I didn't allow enough room in a few cases. The mountains (piles) are quite tall so that probably contributes to the problem.

Thanks for putting some thought into it even if nothing can be done. Mark it up to player education expense i guess. It is the first time I actually put those to work in any of my maps.

OOh. Idea. Maybe set the excavator to not use rail like tracks and just crawls forward and backwards on its own feet. Walking excavator and only thing it builds as it moves (or removes as to backs up) is a materials belt to the base of the build location for sorting. The really big wheel excavators walk on their own feet not on treads. The mid sized and smaller ones use treads like a bulldozer though they would have a lot of those. Not sure how easy that would be to program but, it is just an idea. For now, it does work. I just have to allow more room.
