I'm trying to figure out what my mistake is.

I don't understand how this works. At an oil field, I set up 60 pumps to inject water into the reservoir. The total oil recovery rate is 90 units per minute of real time at game speed 3. I turned off all the pumps except one, and that single pump delivers 30 units of oil from the reservoir in the same minute. Why do 60 pumps yield 90 units while a single pump yields 30? How does this work? Am I doing something wrong? The mod really breathes new life into the game, but this particular issue is a bit of a letdown.
