Digging mountains ... rocks residues in front

Meishu · 17 days ago

here is a small thing I noticed: when you mine a bigger mountain, material goes down and goes behind the wheel. The bagger just rolls over it later..

Would it be possible to have a check to see what is in front of the bagger and let him pull back automatically in order to flatten the surface in front?

not a high prio item... just a cosmetic one

Yeah I saw this during testing. Its really looks bad with high mountains. Will check how to fix that.

Fixed in 0.8.0. Now the bagger scans a larger area and keeps the dig line flat.

The problem with the leftovers is gone now. But needs some tweaking.
it seems to me that the advancement is not aggressive enough now. meaning the bagger stays in place longer, resulting in a low extraction rate...

The top one is going only slowly forward, and nearly nothing comes out of the belts, while the lower one has been buried under, and all 4 belts are full.

better to see here:

As you can see, the 6 baggers are not able to fulfill either of the belts. In the previous version it was always full on one ore type at least.

I checked the problem. It’s because the bagger tries to dig everything fully, without leaving small hills like in your very first screenshot. Unfortunately, the bagger walks backward, and that affects productivity. So the main problem here is the game mechanic with collapsing piles/heaps. As a solution, I tried removing the step behavior in several phases and increased the default forward movement to 2 tiles. I hope this helps.

If the problem happens again, I can add a screen to tweak some internal constants.
