Why are they talking about game version 0.8.5 when I only have 0.8.4b, and the game isn't updating, so I can't update some mods with this version?

If you open the game properties in the Steam client, then go under "Versions and Betas", you can play on 0.8.5 now by launching with the Experimental branch, rather than the default Stable branch. Alternately, you can wait for the next update, and receive 0.8.5 with the people like me that prefer the stability of the Stable branch.
