You can update the research queue and put a newly added research on top.
But if you want that research to start canceling and as loosing the current research is the only option.
Could there be an option to switch the top from the queue with the current ?
Put current research back in queue

Trying to understand here. You're saying you want a faster way to be able to move a freshly added research item (sitting at the bottom of the queue) and move it to the top of the queue? You should be able to do that with the drag-and-drop
More than happy to discuss the idea here - I just need to better understand what you're asking for or what the pain point/problem is.

No, not only the research queue.
I like to include the current active research.
Within the research queue, I can swap the items as it is now.
But then have the possibility to make the top one the active and the active the first in the queue.
As it i now, I have to cancel my current, then the top one gets current.
But I loose the "old current" which I to add manually to the queue again

You can click yellow button next to research in queue to move it topmost (to CURRENT slot)
