Ritual Pyre
Six months. Five lines. One perfectly reasonable industrial decision.
Ritual Pyre adds a repeatable occult production cycle to Captain of Industry. Build the pyre from the Terraforming menu, assign trucks and excavators through the familiar Mine Control Tower interface, and begin a ceremony spanning six active months.
The Six-Month Ritual
Every ritual follows the same sequence:
Month 1 - Ignition The pyre catches fire and the ritual reaches 1/6 progress.
Months 2-5 - Formation One additional red pentagram line appears with each completed month.
Month 6 - The Completed Seal The final line closes the pentagram at the beginning of the month. The complete symbol remains visible throughout the entire sixth month.
End of Month 6 - Sacrifice Only after the final month has passed is the sacrifice performed. By default, a rounded-down 10% of the current population is removed, generating 100 Unity per person actually sacrificed.
No amount of enthusiastic vehicle assignment can skip a phase. Dark industrial administration still requires a complete six-month process.
Vehicles and Monthly Effects
Assigned trucks circle the pyre while excavators trace its ritual routes. Each active vehicle generates Unity and applies a configurable population-growth penalty during the ceremony.
By default:
- Each excavator generates 20 Unity per month and reduces monthly population growth by 0.2 percentage points.
- Each truck generates 10 Unity per month and reduces monthly population growth by 0.1 percentage points.
When the ritual ends:
- All assigned vehicles are released.
- The population-growth penalty immediately returns to 0.
- Fire, overlays, and pentagram lines disappear.
- The pyre becomes ready for another ritual.
Reward, penalty, and sacrifice values can be adjusted in the mod settings. The six-month duration is fixed.
Pausing the Ceremony
The ritual stops advancing whenever the Ritual Pyre is paused or no vehicles are assigned. Monthly rewards, penalties, fire, and phase progression remain suspended until the ceremony resumes.
Site Requirements
Leave roughly 20 x 20 tiles of open, drivable ground around the pyre. Refueling, vehicle replacement, and unloading still take priority over ritual choreography. Even forbidden ceremonies must respect fleet logistics.
Unity remains subject to the game's normal storage limit. Total ritual income generated within one month is capped at 500,000 Unity for numerical safety.
Compatibility and Saves
- Mod version: 0.1.1
- Verified for Captain of Industry v0.8.6c
- Can be added to new or existing saves
- Cannot be safely removed after a Ritual Pyre has been built
Creating a backup before beginning the first ceremony is strongly recommended.
