something the same
Truckers “consume” too much ethanol and drive zig-zag!
you can see road here made by trucks driving drunk

seems they cant not drive diagonally
they are trying to take the shortest path and only on the rail crossing are there rules to have them use the right lane - I think this is in preparation to roads, which is something almost everyone is asking for as if this is a city builder with automation and not a factory game with housing...
they went to a "square" driving school 🤣

Vehicles drive squarly along diagonal rails in one direction, but the opposite direction vehicles can drive diagonally without issues.
Same here
In one particular area I found that the trucks were almost stopping each time they approached the tracks. When I put a (wiggly) diagonal line of vehicle barriers, they started driving more smoothly and were no longer stopping and starting.
Yeah, maybe something is off with how tracks "block" a passable square. In Buhalteris' video at 0:58, you can see a vehicle driving over what appears to be an actually illegal node. I could’ve sworn I also saw trucks getting stuck between two parallel rails, with no legal path they could’ve used to get there. Could be something else though.
The stopping behavior in sforsuper’s forwarded video is also quite curious. I should add that I used a fairly powerful machine (5950X) in my original post, running a medium-sized factory. My guess is that the stopping might be related to repathfinding due to some edge case or exception occurring very close to the rails, but that’s just speculation. It could also simply be slow maneuvering.
In my case, it kept turning and hitting the diagonal track, forcing it to turn, resulting in a stop-start-stop-start motion.
This is what I found as well, which prompted me to put the vehicle barriers in place.
I tried putting in crossings at two spots and that didn't seem to help, there were still some that went that way anyways.
There is still something to be looked at there, I would say, but this works for now.
I would guess that the road mechanics and the changes to the pathfinding with those will probably address things.
Yes, they do wiggle still, but the herky-jerky stop-and-start gets smoothed out.
The wiggle happens regardless of what is causing the diagonal movement.
Same here.
I saw the truckers' drunkness when
- they drive near 45 degree railroad tracks and
- they go downwards.
I guess railroad tracks which are not laid rectangly make truckers be drunken.
