Would this (the recipe change suggestion lower code block) be better: High steam in the Desalinator produces 78 water, not 72.

Yeah, currently all my desalination setups have a balancer dumping excess brine. 36 is a nice number, 2 water treatment on slurry, or fit with chlorine electrolyzer
I was looking at the ratios of making brine from water and was finding it interesting that depending on the recipe selected it would take a different amount of seawater for the same amount of brine (making all water into brine)
yeah this was my disappointing experiment on how to make brine im a smaller area
which doesn't work because 48 seawater becomes like 3 salt, also you need so many ponds to make salt for food now it's annoying
i guess the salt recipe is because by volume there isn't much salt in seawater
At least you can make salt directly now instead of chaining 2 ponds
yeah, seawater is 3.5% salt by weight.
which you have to do because chaining 2 ponds doesn't give a benefit now
not sure what i'd suggest about the salt problem or if it even is a problem. it felt like a problem.
maybe mine able salt as a resource? On the island and/or world mine?
I just don’t like how an evaporation pond is such a big thing and can only do 6 salt per 60, and that’s the only option
What even is 6 of though? cubic meters? I have no idea how realistic it is.
Well if units are by volume, you should only get 1 salt from the pond so maybe I should stop complaining before they make it more realistic
well assuming 1 unit of water is the same volume of 1 unit of salt, you are getting 6.25% salt from seawater by volume. Which is actually fairly comparable to irl 8%.
Salt in seawater makes up 3.5% of seawater weight, and 8% of its volume.
They probably choose 6 salt instead of the closer 8 as it fits better with recipes.
(assum8ng this was actually taken into account and not just a coincidence.
I do find it odd that evaporation ponds take 96 seawater and not the full 108 from a pump.
I don't see any reason why the 12 seawater would change much.
I guess if you want to run 9 ponds on 8 pumps you can...
in fact, if it was changed to 108, and the brine recipe was changed accordingly fro. 48 to 54 (being 1/2) that fits even better with brine recipes as chlorine is used a lot by factors of 18 and 54 is 3x18
though it IS used by a factor of 24 for alumina, but you can get that easily from low steam desalination, which is usually pretty easy from arc 2
but having a seawater and pond back up if only used for alumina isn't a huge deal.
My go-to mode is to distribute Brine in a network and make salt from Brine in ponds where needed.
How about reusing the brine from producing water? You'll just be dumping it anyway, and it looked twice as fast?

If were going by how trains treat cargo, every unit of any resource weigths exactly 0.25 tons, so ... 🤷
Oh, & their rough dimentions (accorcing to the in-game constants) are: carLength = Fix32.Fix32(5) -- tiles (so 10m) carWidth = Fix32.Fix32(1.6) -- tiles (so 3.2m) carHeight = Fix32.fromMeters(0.4) massTonsWhenEmpty = Fix32.Fix32(10) massTonsWhenFull = massTonsWhenEmpty + (120 * TonsPerQuantity) -- TonsPerQuantity is the previously mentioned 0.25 constant

Yeah, that’s kind of my main source. No need for ponds to make Brine.
