Chem plant not running recipe #2

Production & Recipes

When having both the Fertilizer 1 recipes set in the chem plant and the organic fertilizer version on top and all the ingredients available and the F1 exits slowly, the second recipe does not (which I would expect) start to execute when there is sufficient free space in the F1 output buffer. Instead, the top recipe progress bar (strangely) turns full green until the buffer has emptied enough for the top recipe to execute.

The second recipe is never executed.

Video and save attached.

EDIT: The order recipes are selected in matter. See other (also erroneous) variant: Chem plant not running recipe #2

recipe #2 will never execute unless recipe #1 is missing ingredients.

Sure it will

Governor and I use this feature in our CO2 processing plant

Hmm. Not the behaviour I expected.
In your experience, what seems to regulate which recipe is chosen?

So, at the instant the second recipe started, the top recipe had both inputs green?

I have never seen recipe 2 run if recipe 1 has enough ingredients for one cycle to run.

Isn't recipe 1 blocked from running because the water hasn't been removed from the output sufficiently yet?

So, this is proves that it works for this combo but not for the one in the OP.

Yeah, like I said, it's running the second recipe because it can't output all the water so it can run the first one

Hover over the red bar next to the water in the top recipe, you'll see it.

prometheus0000 [discord] · 1 year ago

Now if you designed it like that on purpose, that's one thing, but it doesn't sound like that

On your computer?

In the video

The red bar that says the water output is full

(The instruction was for Kayser - I wrote it while you were typing)

The moment it turns orange, it means there is sufficient room in the output buffer to run the recipe. It obviously works for the latter video, but it doesn't work for the Fertilizer recipes in the OP.

Can you check the actual recipes (not normalised to /60)?

jemsterr [discord] · 1 year ago

Yes, exactly as we were saying. Top one will always run if it has both inputs and room for output. Always.
Since the top recipe needs to output 15, and the bottom only outputs 10, the bottom one will run first if it is output-limited.
