The trains still have difficulties with pathfinding and sleep mode.

Fixed Trains

I admit I have many trains and also many tracks/crossings. Therefore, I wouldn't claim that the same problem would exist with one train and two stations. However, it's still the case that entire sectors/factories regularly go offline because I can't constantly check for idle trains. Train 488 is waiting for free tracks, but there isn't a single crossing or train on the line up to the loading station. This line is completely isolated from all other tracks. Train 600 waits indefinitely, creating an ever-growing backlog that, in the worst-case scenario, could bring everything to a standstill. It's running because I have a second track, but I'm sure that eventually everything would be blocked again.

They've gotten my save file several times before; they should just let it run for a few hours. ^^

but still if you can make another save pointed at the problem, it'd probably save them time hunting for the issue themselves ¯_(ツ)_/¯

And yes, I already have an interim solution: If it were possible to have a "Pause All Trains" and "Unpause All Trains" option in the train depot, that would be fantastic. Because "Pause Train" and "Unpause Train" always force the train to calculate a new route. I can live with doing it every 15 minutes. But what I find hard to live with is having to search for everything manually.

Here's another example: The storage are emptying, and I only noticed this because I specifically built a notification storage in between. Until yesterday, the entire washing machine production was simply running dry. And in my opinion, this kind of thing happens way too often. ^^

Can you show all of these with the navigation overlay open?

And these all appeared after the most recent patch?

Despite having your save already, a save with it actively failing would be useful so I don't have to sit here for a few hours waiting 😉

g4eschaschlik [discord] · 4 months ago

No, it was like that even before the patch. It just happens randomly everywhere, on every line, so unfortunately I can't say which line is causing problems. Okay, give me a few minutes. I want to see if saving and reloading fixes the problem, and also a complete restart of the game. I don't want to look like a complete i,,,t. :p

Unfortunately it's the sort of thing that reloading might fix. I have some guesses as to what might be causing this on massive train networks, but some things (like pause/unpause fixing it) don't quite add up :/

Does it happen on any of your shared saves? is it enough to let the game run?

ok thx

Yes, sometimes I think, "Wow, the update was great," and then (I can't say exactly when) the trains start stopping again. But one thing I can say for sure: pausing and unpaused it always solves the problem because the train recalculates or something. 🙂

And after saving and restarting the game two or three times to send the save, I see that the trains are running again. That's why I'm reluctant to send saves, because it can happen that the trains start running again on their own. That's rather embarrassing.

But there's still a train at the station for MEDIC III, lol East/Middle/Coast on the map. The Station name is: Rote Medi LOW/Verträge

I've found the root cause. To work around it: avoid non-stop zones before stations. Ideally there should be a space large enough for the train to fit before the station. If there isn't, and the pathfinder gets (and stays) overloaded, this bug can occur

g4eschaschlik [discord] · 4 months ago

Okay, what do you think, could I use the blue tool: only one train? Or would that create similar problems?

I tested the waypoint system, but it's obviously rather inconvenient when the trains ignore the points. I would have preferred to take the time to ensure everything ran smoothly into the stations. However, in several tests, the trains ignored the waypoints. This isn't to say that the system wouldn't work with fewer trains on the tracks...

Exclusive zones are fine. The bug only happens when the train can't fit between the last "red" zone and the first station entity. It'll be fixed in a patch, but I'm not sure when that'll be.

thank you. And then I think the same thing when the trains leave the stations?
