Can't place anywhere

Hey Sirael,

I can't place the Lighthouse mod somewhere.

I use the version 0.87a

Groundhight ist +02 or left +03. Even shows something need to be in the Ocean. Turning doesn't help

What is the purpose of that lane behind the lighthouse? It unnecessarily hinders the construction of the lighthouse.

For now I've Patched this mod directly through my own beacon mod i started working on last month— This fixes the placement issues in the meantime.

To be honest, I don't really care about that — for me, the main thing is that the mod itself works and meets my needs 🙂 Who the author is doesn't really matter to me as a user. I'll shower gratitude and praise on the developer whose mod is more functional and bug-free 😅

No, no, you misunderstood. I don't work with it, I just give feedback. And I'm more of a translator than a modder. While I understand some of the LUA language, here I'm a complete "child who can't even walk."
Moreover, there are no alternatives... There were COIE mods, I used them until they worked, but now there are no alternatives. I have the mods installed that are usable, and if there are multiple mod options that offer the same content, I'll use the one that suits me best.
And as for feedback on mods, how else can I do it? If a mod is flawed, and the developer responds to feedback, fixes bugs, and listens to the community, then they make the mod better, which in turn fully meets my interests as a user :)

I'm far from disputing authorship of any content in these matters. I act more as a translator, and I don't care much about these disputes. I'm simply proud that if my translation is used, that's enough for me. If my feedback is accepted, and bugs are fixed and improvements are made, that's enough for me, and I'll be grateful.

Thank you for such kind words, I appreciate it :) Perhaps in the future I will get to this, but at the moment I have no inner need for it.

I would like to respond to one part of your comments, because I do not think that insinuations like these should be left unanswered.

You wrote that there is a “striking resemblance” between the two mods, especially regarding the artwork, and then mentioned your suspicion that “this account may have been created for obfuscation.”

The lighthouse asset comes directly from the game, and the pier is nothing more than additional polygons! Boat is free asset!

If you are referring to me or to my account, then please say so clearly and explain exactly what you are accusing me of.

Coastal Immigration Beacon is my work, and I do not appreciate public insinuations that question either my identity or the origin of my work without providing any evidence.

Similar functionality or visual concepts can arise independently, especially when both mods are based on the same original in-game asset and serve a similar purpose. Similarity alone is not evidence of copying or any other wrongdoing.

If you have specific evidence concerning me or my work, present it clearly and factually. If you do not, I ask you to stop making vague public accusations or insinuations regarding my account or the legitimacy of my work.

I have no interest in personal disputes. I am here to create and improve my mods based on feedback from the community. But if someone publicly questions my work or my reputation, I will defend myself.

The internet provides anonymity to people like you, and the inability to confront someone directly is unfortunate. People like you take advantage of that anonymity...

Fixed in Coastal Immigration Beacon 0.2.13:

• the vanilla 5×5 footprint remains beneath the building,
• there are no building or ocean restrictions beneath the pier,
• only a separate 10×23 docking area must be placed in the water,
• all other functionality remains unchanged.

Maybe I should start by explaining who I actually am, since part of your original comment questioned the very nature of this account.

I am not hiding behind an anonymous internet identity. My accounts are connected to my public identity, including Twitch, Instagram, and Buy Me a Coffee. The latter also involves identity and payment verification, including for financial and tax purposes.

So whatever your theory may have been about this account being created for “obfuscation,” I am a very real person, and I have never tried to hide that.

As for the mod itself, I am completely confident in my authorship and in how it was created.

You made this a public matter when you publicly started questioning the origin of my work and my account. Once those statements were made publicly, I had little choice but to respond.

You now say that you have evidence, even “damning evidence.” If that is the case, it is not my responsibility to guess what you believe happened or to defend myself against an accusation that you have not yet clearly defined.

You say that you would prefer to discuss this privately. I understand that, but I personally do not have a dispute that I need to resolve in private. I know where my work came from.

If you believe you have evidence that says otherwise, then this is something you chose to raise, and it is up to you to substantiate your claims.

I would genuinely prefer for this to end with a simple explanation and the conclusion that two people independently arrived at similar ideas. But once someone publicly starts questioning another person's authorship and identity, it stops being an innocent remark.

I think it makes more sense to continue in English simply to keep the conversation consistent and understandable for everyone reading it.

But since you brought up language: I speak Czech, Slovak, Russian, English, and some Italian. English is not my native language, so yes, when writing longer or more complicated texts in English, I sometimes use tools to help me with translation, grammar, or phrasing. I have never claimed otherwise.

I don't really understand why that should be an issue. Using assistance to express my own thoughts more clearly in a foreign language doesn't make those thoughts any less mine, and it certainly has nothing to do with the authorship of my mods.

And that brings us back to what we were actually discussing.

You have repeatedly talked about copying, a “carbon copy,” “damning evidence,” and now you are saying that this concerns someone other than just you and me.

I have published six mods here so far. I primarily make them for myself because there are simply things I miss in the game or would like to work differently.

My mods aren't perfect, and I have never claimed they are. That's exactly why I appreciate feedback. Something that works perfectly on my system may not necessarily work the same way for everyone else — localization, placement, different configurations, and so on. Feedback helps me find these problems and hopefully improve the mods.

I decided to publish them for a very simple reason: if I already made something for myself, perhaps somebody else will find it useful or simply enjoy it too.

As far as authorship is concerned, I stand completely behind my mods and my work.

If you believe that any of it was “carbon copied,” then it is up to you to demonstrate that. If you believe someone else was involved, then explain who, how, and what evidence leads you to that conclusion.

Sorry, but I will not be sharing private conversations or pursuing my original suspicion publicly. and I do not want to make claims that go beyond what I can prove. It was only a suspicion, and I recognize that I may have been mistaken. I later decided to drop the matter but did not update my original message promptly, and for that I apologize.

I enjoy your mod and intend to continue using it while it remains compatible with mine. If a compatibility patch is ever needed, I would be willing to help with that.
